Osteopathic treatment is a manual treatment method. Here a patient is not thought of as a collection of diseases, but as a human being who is ill due to some reason (physical, mental, familial, environmental etc.). An osteopathic doctor finds the cause of the patient’s illness and treats it accordingly.
For example: A patient has neck pain. Physically, the cause(s) of his pain could be: 1) bones moving, 2) muscle stiffness due to stress 3) blood circulation disruption, 4) nerve/nerve conduction disruption and 5) immune system suppression.
An osteopathic specialist doctor identifies these problems in the patient through osteopathic manipulative treatment and resolves them, so that the patient recovers.
